Prize Diner
The Prize Diner opened in late December on State Street across from the State Theater, replacing the former Ithaca Diner. The new owners, Helen Kiluk and her partner Kristoffer Vieira spent two months renovating the space and creating a menu of American comfort food. The diner's menu ranges from pancakes and eggs to real mashed potatoes and real meat loaf. The homemade soups include a clam chowder. The owners are open to menu suggestions and try to be accommodating, such as meeting a request for a vegan burger option (a black bean burger has been added to the menu).
During the week, the Prize Diner is open from 5:30 am to 3:00 pm. On the weekends, the diner stays open 24/7 to feed night owls, students and State Theater patrons.
